Assessment of the Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative.
The interpretation of Step 7 of the Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative informs health professionals about the evidence for keeping mothers and babies together 24 hr a day (rooming-in) to improve health outcomes (Baby-Friendly USA, 2011; UNICEF, 2011; World Health Organization, UNICEF, 2009). The UK Baby Friendly Initiative is based on a global accreditation programme of Unicef and the World Health Organisation.
